Focus And Scope

This journal has a focus and scope in the fields of: guidance and counseling, middle school education, high school education, higher education, character education, and special education (non-formal, informal, and inclusive).

Guidance and counseling.

These articles contain in-depth commentary on how guidance and counseling services can continue to develop professionally. Effective teaching strategies, mentoring and counseling services for counseling students as well as continuing education for experienced counselors will be highlighted.

Research.

This article focuses on research (qualitative, quantitative, mixed) in counselor preparation, guidance and counseling education, professional development, supervision, and educational counselor professional practice.

Technique.

This article focuses on professional models for teaching empirically based techniques used by professional counselors, guidance and counseling teachers, guidance and counseling students, as well as teaching and supervision techniques used in professional preparation programs.

Supervision.

This scientific article specifically targets ideas, research and practices related to the supervision of educational counselors, guidance and counseling teachers and counseling students. These articles investigate and discuss supervision issues from perspectives applicable to field supervisors, counselor educators, guidance counseling teachers, guidance counseling students and/or clinical supervisors (e.g., supervising professionals working to obtain a professional counseling license).

Problem

Concerns and Potential Solutions. This scientific article identifies and discusses important issues faced in the fields of education, guidance and professional counseling with a special focus on issues in counselor preparation, professional development and supervision. Exploration of these topics should include a description of the problem as well as an examination of potential solutions or effective responses to the problem.

Clinical Supervisor's Story.

This article explains current issues in the preparation and supervision of prospective counselors, guidance and counseling teachers, counseling students, from the perspective of site supervisors. The emphasis in these articles should focus on the story of the problem, potential solutions, and the uniqueness of the message conveyed. Authors are encouraged not to conduct significant literature reviews and directly convey the message they want to convey to the field.
